888poker leaves Australia and Slovenia
Last week, all Australian customers of 888poker received a letter from the operator where players have been informed that from January 16, 2017 888poker leaves the Australian market.
The reason for this was the changes in the law on online gambling activities (Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill 2016). The recent edition of the law states that all operators must obtain local licenses, plus, the law affects the activities of operators in other markets.
If the companies that continue to operate in the Australian market without a license be searched out, they will be charged a fine of AUD $6,75 ($5 million), plus by AUD $1,35 million ($1 million) for each day of operating without a license.
At the same time, 888poker have also announced that they would leave the Slovenian market as well. Like the case with Australia, the reason is the new gaming legislation of the country which forces operators to buy local licenses. Apparently, having considered this undertaking to be inexpedient, 888poker left the Slovenian market. By the way, earlier PokerStars has made it for the same reason.
