iPoker partially leaves Poland
Because of the new government initiatives that were adopted in late 2016, from the 1st of April, many operators will have to leave the gambling market of Poland.
Three main rooms of iPoker Network - William Hill, bet365 and Betfair have already announced that they would leave the Polish market. The new law is basically applied to bookmakers. It obliges bookmakers to pay 12% of turnover tax, which many companies have considered as an impossible obligation. By the way, in addition to three above-mentioned rooms, the world betting giant Pinnacle Sports has also left Poland, as well as MrGreen and EnergyBet.
Unfortunately, preliminary expectations about poker had been misplaced. The Polish Parliament has not made any special decisions on online poker yet. However, this can hardly be expected, since Poland is focused on creating a state monopoly company at the market of online gambling. Meanwhile, some of the leading representatives of the gambling industry, including GVC (the owner of which is PartyPoker), don't hurry to leave Poland, arguing it with the fact that the new gambling law contradicts the EU legislation.
