In Sweden, the court acquitted people who used the bots
In 2013 the Swedish monopoly, online poker room Svenska Spel, gave to the police information about 14 gaming accounts. According to the operator, the game from those accounts was conducted with the help of robots that played up the honest players, inflicting them damage of hundreds of thousands of dollars. After this treatment police detained seven people, five of them received a suspended sentence for fraud. However, according to local media, at the moment all charges have been dropped.
The thing is that such case of fraud in online poker was the first one for the trial. The Court ruled that the legislation describes the situation not clearly, and because the law doesn't clearly spell out the charges regulations, it is impossible to judge the defendants. However, the judge noted that the acquittal doesn't mean that the court has no claims to the players.
However, operator Svenska Spel doesn't feel any satisfaction on this occasion, because now it is obliged to pay compensation of $568,000 to cheated players.
