Interview with 2020 WSOP world poker champion Stoyan Madanzhiev
1. When did you start playing poker?
I’ve started play poker when I was at school.
I always did something and play something. It was more than 10 years ago, and I’m so happy that after so many time of playing this happened to me. This is unbelievable.
2. What do you like besides playing poker?
To be honest, most of my time I play poker. I don’t really do anything else. It’s not of course exactly like that. As for my hobbies, I can say I like action, I like riding, snowboarding, skiing, swimming, a lot of activities. I also like some yoga, meditation. I like to explore world and try different things and always play poker in other time.
3. How did your poker journey start? Tell about your experience at GG network.
I think that it’s really nice job, it was a wonderful series, tournaments started at perfect time for me, I had opportunity to play many of them. I had nice experience. People were very competitive but it was fun to play.
4. What is the main advantage of online WSOP?
I planned to participate in double WSOP in Vegas but it was hard to do that because we need visas. Now whet it was held online it was much easier. I was so happy when I saw a schedule and can play online for real bracelets.
5. What is your experience of playing on Betkings?
I don’t have bad experience on Betkings. Everything is smooth and perfect. I really enjoy playing on this software because there is some fun going on like you can throw expressions to people, you can do snap cams, show your face if you want. It’s more engaging and more fun and I really enjoyed it. That’s poker isn’t about just competing but also have fun and the balance.
6. WSOP 2020 highlights. Tell about the most exciting moments of the event.
It was such a great experience! Day one was three weeks ago, then I finished in top two! I was first or second, and I had a good opportunity but little that I know I would make the final table. Day two was really long. I didn’t expect it to be such a marathon because we started around 9:30 pm and we played all the night. I was doing good and we needed to finish at 40 players left so this took a lot of time. It finished around 9:30 am, so we played day two for almost 12 hours but it was worth it because I finished 13 chips with 38 players left. It was a great opportunity. Fortunately, I made the final table on the last day.
7. How did you celebrate your achievement?
It was such an adrenaline, it was like my body never felt like that, and I needed some time to simulate the situation what’s going on. I immediately called some friends, they were calling me out so bragging. I was inviting everyone, drink some champagne with close friends in the balcony the first night just to rest and celebrate a bit. I haven’t made big celebration yet. Maybe I make it when I get the bracelet in my hands. I’m waiting it to come to my address and then I probably throw up a party with my friends and i think it will be great.
8. What are you going to do with your money ?
I haven’t thought about that yet. Probably we can do party and celebrate.
