Gambling giant GVC Holdings plc announced its intention to focus entirely on regulated markets. The company said that it should leave all unregulated markets within the next three years.

The markets of Poland and Norway will be among the first ones to be closed. GVC plans to leave these markets until the end of this year, which means that since December partypoker won’t accept players from these two European countries.

As for the Russian market, everything is quite interesting here. Despite the fact that it can also be classified as a gray market, GVC isn’t hurry to withdraw their poker brand from Russia. On the contrary, recently Party has presented a special client partypoker Sochi which was a clear plagiary of PokerStars which has had a client with the same name in the Russian Federation for already three years.

Currently, Russian offline poker in Sochi is almost the only place in Europe where live play is possible despite the pandemic. So this is kind of creephole to stay in Russia and offer their poker product to local players.

Speaking about the news from GVC Holdings, a number of important upcoming changes should be noted. Firstly, the company plans to rename Entain plc and, apparently, focus on sports betting. They also promised a "fresh corporate identity" and "the Group's desire to be a leader in the world of betting and gambling entertainment."

Secondly, GVC place emphasis upon regulated markets which are expected to reach 99% revenue this year. The Group plans to receive 100% of its revenues from regulated markets until 2023.
