WSOP finalist has a positive COVID-19 test result. He will be disqualified
Upeshka De Silva became the second player who won’t be able to attend the WSOP ME final table. Earlier, the player from China, Peiyuan Sun, decided not to attend Rozvadov, due to fear fueled by the coronavirus, thus, he was automatically disqualified from the tournament (with payout of prize money), and his chips have been disposed of the game.
However, Upeshka kept end up, and despite having the shortest stack, many people think highly of his capabilities, as he was a three-time WSOP bracelet winner.
Currently, with a positive test, Upeshka will automatically receive payments for 9th place (+$98,813). Recall that the winner will get $1,553,256, although due to two disqualifications and the final table which is played against the backdrop of a global pandemic, many consider the current WSOP final to be not entirely correct and fair.
